This fall, BIG EAST, the most widely followed collegiate basketball conference in the country, partnered with YellowHeart to design and build exclusive NFT tickets to its 2022 Basketball Media Day at Madison Square Garden in New York.

BIG EAST’s Media Day is an annual event, but this was the first year the conference offered NFT tickets as an entry point. It was also the first NFT-ticketed sports event at Madison Square Garden.

When NFTs first rose in popularity in early 2021, businesses and fans across nearly every industry were eager to learn more about them. YellowHeart, a Web3 ticketing marketplace, was one of the earliest adopters of the technology, having released the first NFT album and NFT tickets with Kings of Leon in early 2021.

While music and art were two of the first major use cases for NFTs, YellowHeart’s focus has always been to disrupt the ticketing market and provide fans with actual utility. This is where the sports industry comes into play.

NFT tickets help mitigate the biggest problems with traditional ticketing, including high resale prices, fraudulent tickets and scalpers. This is because the ticket issuer, whether it be a sports team, specific player, or a stadium, dictates if their tickets can be resold.

If they are resold, they have the option to cap resale prices at a specific percentage. This helps prevent fans from paying astronomically high prices and finally gives athletes a cut of secondary ticket sales, which is currently dominated by scalpers.

Since everything on the blockchain is transparent, when one fan transfers another fan a ticket, the transaction and ownership of the ticket is public knowledge. This makes it extremely difficult for scalpers to create fraudulent tickets. YellowHeart NFT tickets also have a rotating QR code, making it nearly impossible to screenshot and resell a ticket.

Outside of these more functional benefits, NFT tickets can also be packaged with multiple perks for fans, which is exactly what fans who purchased tickets to BIG EAST’s Basketball Media Day this year got.

Every NFT ticket was paired with two additional tickets to the Championship game for either the 2023 Mens or Womens BIG EAST basketball tournaments at Madison Square Garden or Mohegan Sun Arena. These VIP passes live in YellowHeart’s Web3 ticketing wallet.

Additional perks packaged into the tickets included on-court access, exclusive merchandise, complimentary lunch and the opportunity to be interviewed on the set of ShootAround

According to YellowHeart’s founder and CEO, Josh Katz, it’s because of these added benefits that BIG EAST is truly ahead of the curve when it comes to Web3 and sports.

“As the most widely followed collegiate basketball conference in the country, BIG EAST is always exploring new ways to help fans connect with their favorite players and teams,” Katz said.

“It’s no surprise to us that BIG EAST is ahead of the curve when it comes to Web3 activations in the sports industry. From our very first call, the team quickly understood all of the benefits that can be packaged into Web3 tickets, which is why they’re on the cutting edge of this transformative tech.”

This is BIG EAST’s second season partnering with YellowHeart on Web3 activations. As the partnership continues to grow, collegiate sports fans and athletes across the country will continue to reap new benefits from the projects they execute together.

Sports Stocks Screenshot
Sports Stocks via SimBull are fun to buy and easy to trade.

SimBull is a Sports Exchange all sports market that lets you trade simulated sports stocks for your favorite teams.

SimBull is literally a stock market for sports teams.

You can buy a share of any team in the SimNFL, SimNBA, SimMLB, or SimCFB.

How does it work?

After creating and funding your account, the next step is to buy virtual shares of teams.

Sports Exchange All-Sports Exchange

For example, in the SimNFL the Pittsburgh Steelers are currently trading at $44 dollars per share – currently the 19th most expensive team.

I think they are lowly valued by the market. And so does Steelers legend Franco Harris, that you can see here:

Each virtual share is backed by a team pennant and allows you the opportunity to earn win payouts. SimBull is NOT a gambling website.

The physical asset allows the market to operate as a sports exchange/all sports market because users are buying and selling a physical asset and not wagering on a specific event.

At any given time, you can submit your virtual share to SimBull and they will send you the pennant that is backing your share.

Owning virtual shares also gives you the opportunity to receive payouts when a team you own wins.

If you choose to submit your share to SimBull for the pennant, you will lose the opportunity of earning future win payouts.

Most players will never submit their share for the pennant because of the potential cash payouts for each share.

NFL stock is the most expensive and most traded:

NFL Stock Prices via SimBull
NFL Stock Prices via SimBull

How do you make money?

  • Owning a stock and seeing it appreciate in value
  • Win payouts
Win Payouts are SimBull’s way of providing value to each share and are the easiest way to make money. You have the opportunity to earn win payouts if a team you own wins a game. There is no limit on win payouts so the more virtual shares (i.e. pennants) you own, the more payouts you have the chance of receiving.

Payouts for each league have different value due to the number of games in a season.

    – If your SimNBA team wins you get a .10 cent payout.
    – If your SimMLB team wins you get a .5 cent payout.
    – If your SimNFL team wins you get a .50 cent payout.
    – If your SimCFB team wins you get a .50 cent payout.

Are there fees?

Yes, trading fees fund the payouts. Currently, trading fees are $1 per trade.

To get Free Trading, you can purchase a subscription for $25 a year, or $3 a month. So, if you are going to be making more than 2-3 trades a month, a subscription would make sense for you.

You can buy football stocks, NFL stocks and sports team stocks from 3 of the major North American sports plus college football.

Living in Omaha, Nebraska SimBull has been a fantastic alternative to sports gambling. I can still apply my sports knowledge and leverage it for value.

SimBull is fun, easy, and the best sports exchange on the market.

Bryce Hall vs Austin McBroom FULL FIGHT – Battle of the Platforms

Via the embed HERE:

YouTubers vs TikTokers.

YouTubers vs. TikTokers — is further proof these social media boxing matches are becoming the most popular events in combat sports … like it or not.

A week after Floyd Mayweather bragged about being the best at “legalized bank robbing,” it seems some YouTube and TikTok stars are hoping to join in on the fun.

In an event named “Battle of the Platforms” some influencers from YouTube and TikTok are fighting each other in boxing matches. The headlining fight is between YouTube’s Austin McBroom and TikTok’s Bryce Hall, and both are set to make a decent amount of money from this bout.

How much did Austin McBroom earn vs. Bryce Hall?

While the exact figures for McBroom aren’t public, he did share some information about how much he’ll make in this fight.

He confirmed Hall’s $5 million salary for this fight in an interview with The Hollywood Fix. In that interview, he shared that he’s willing to make less than Hall in order to make this fight happen.

“I told the team, I said look, I’ll agree, for Bryce Hall to fight me, I’ll agree to make less money than him,” McBroom said.

Austin McBroom dominates the boxing match from the beginning.

He put together nice combinations and Hall had NO ANSWER for his straight left hand – He just kept EATING IT over and over.

TikToker Hall could only get a few rabbitt punches in from one end of the ring to the other.

Bryce was beaten to a pulp in round 3. The ref stopped the action with an 8 count to see if Bryce could continue, and he did for about 10 more seconds before a fierce combination to the body was enough for the ref, who stopped the fight.

Hall legitimately got his shit rocked until the final bell. And his destroyed face confirmed what you already thought you saw.

Vinnie Hacker vs. Deji FULL FIGHT – battle of the platforms

Check out how TikToker Vinnie Hacker celebrated after his knockout win against Deji.

YouTube vs TikTok Boxing: Social media shocked by Deji’s physique during weigh-in. Swarms of people on social media have been rushing to react to YouTube star Deji and his dad bod appearance during the YouTube vs TikTok Boxing weigh-in on Friday.

KSI’s brother, who currently has 10.3 million subscribers, went face-to-face with TikTok star Vinnie Hacker, who possesses 7.4 million followers, in what is one of the most anticipated matchups of the evening.

Deji’s bout with Hacker is one of seven fights that are taking place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, United States, to see which element of social media conquers the other. Austin McBroom facing off with Bryce Hall in the main event of the evening.

Most people thought this would be just a social media event with crappy boxing, but the action was actually good and it was really entertaining.

Dram Sprite Commercial
DRAM told us about starring in the latest Sprite Cranberry commercial alongside LBJ.

DRAM is a Grammy-nominated musician who teamed up with Lil Yachty on the song “Broccoli” to sell over 5 million units.

Starting today, DRAM has most recently teamed up with LeBron James and Sprite on a new Sprite Cranberry commercial and new limited edition flavor –  Winter Spiced Cranberry. It’s the “thirstiest time of the year” again with this video:

DRAM (“Does Real-Ass Music”) talked NBA and the impact of growing up in the same hometown as BubbaChuck aka Allen Iverson, working with Gorillaz on music, and his love of NBA2K.

I-80 Sports Blog: You’re from Hampton, VA. And you’ve got to know the first NBA player that came to mind when I heard you are from Hampton…

DRAM – ALLEN IVERSON! Or as we all called him if you were from here, “BubbaChuck.” Man, he was THE guy. Cornrows, tattoos, the baggy shorts. He didn’t just succeed for himself. It inspired everybody in the area. Seeing him do well made everybody think there was something in the water and we could do it too. Myself included. Just like with Michael Vick. Kam Chancellor, all those guys.

I-80: I was told you are a big NBA guy in RL.

DRAM – I’m actually playing NBA2k right now. I created my own player. There’s so many rookies that are on fire right now that I love, like Ja Morant. I can’t even dribble a ball between my legs. So I made my own player so I can run with them. He’s the MVP right now.

I-80: Speaking of MVPs, you and LeBron James are in a new Sprite cranberry commercial together. You guys remade the animated Sprite 30-second holiday spot, “Thirstiest Time of the Year,” to promote Sprite Winter Spiced Cranberry.

DRAM – We did and did you see Lebron James threw me an ice-cold Sprite?! I got an alley-oop from THE KING!!? Did you see my hands?

I gotta say that I’ve always loved Sprite, loved the old ad and everything. But the new flavor of cranberry…there’s just something more robust about it. It’s the perfect drink for the holidays cuz you can get naughty OR nice with it.

And, I get to be in it with the King, LeBron, the greatest to ever do it.

I-80: Who are your personal top three NBA players of all-time?

DRAMBill Laimbeer. Metta World Peace. Muggsy Bogues.

I-80: What team is going to win the NBA Finals?

DRAM – Man, I’ve got to go with the Lakers. They are just stacked with LBJ, Anthony Davis, larger than life guys. They are like the real-life “Monstars.” They are my team.

I-80: DRAM, my daughter just walked into my office and wants to say “hi.” She loves “Broccoli.”

DRAM – Hi there! What’s your name?

I-80 Jr.: Fiona.

DRAM – Hi Fiona!

I-80 Jr.: Hello! My question is, who is your favorite NBA team?

DRAM – Definitely the Lakers. They’re just a team of studs. And not just because I’m working with The King.

I-80 Jr.: That’s my favorite team too.

DRAM – That’s a great choice!

I-80 Jr.: Thank you. OK bye.

DRAM – Bye!

I-80: What was it like to be successful with “Broccoli” your song with Lil Yachty (peaked at #5, sold 5+ million units sold) a song that really wasn’t your style to that point? Then suddenly, you’re “The Broccoli Guy?”

DRAM – Yeah, I know what you mean. It’s a great song and I love it, but it doesn’t really show my full range. My style is more eclectic and R&B and a lot of people wouldn’t know that just from that one song. But the good thing is, that it introduced me and my music to a lot of new people that wouldn’t have ever heard me. Which is the same thing that is happening with this Sprite ad with LeBron.

I-80: Is that the same thing that happened when you worked with Gorillaz on the track “Andromeda” on the “Humanz” album?

DRAM – No actually that was a lot different. I felt like that showed the my music to any already established audience that was perfect for my style. When Damon Albarn asked me to do it, I was so excited. And to tour with them and do things like “Demon Days,” it was just awesome. And it was perfect for my brand. And that’s what it is all about, building a brand.

The Spartan Kids Race Is The World’s Largest Obstacle Course Race

Kids from across the globe will put their physical and mental grit to the test when Spartan hosts its second annual Spartan Kids Race World Championship December 7 outside Los Angeles in Castaic Lake, CA.

The Obstacle Course Race (OCR) will see qualified competitors in two age groups, 10-11 and 12-14-years old vying for more than $15,000 in prizes on the most challenging Spartan Kids race course to date.

“The inaugural Spartan Kids World Championship saw some of the best young athletes from a dozen countries giving it their all on the course,” said Spartan Kids Race Director Justin Ross. “Their passion and dedication to the sport was truly inspirational, and as a result we expect this year’s event to bring an even larger field from all over the globe. It’s always incredible to see kids step outside of their comfort zones and put one another to the test and we can’t wait to cheer them on.”

The Spartan Kids World Championship is a gated event, open to kids ages 10 to 14 year’s old who have placed top three in their age and gender group at any Spartan Kids race around the world from November 5, 2018 through December 6, 2019.

The top five male and female finishers in each age group will receive tiered prize packages, and the podium finishers will receive limited edition award plaques. In addition to the championship race, kids ages four to 14 can participate in open races throughout the day with no qualification necessary. All competitors will receive a Spartan Kids Race finisher t-shirt and medal.

Glamping At Kentucky Motor Speedway With Kyle Busch
In my defense I was too busy glamping hard AF at Kentucky Speedway to look at the right camera

The M&M’s Glampground at Kentucky Speedway celebrated the one industry millennials haven’t killed – camping

I glamped with two guys named Joe – Joe Kinsley from BustedCoverage and Joe Miragliotta from Joe’s Daily and latest Tik Tok mega influencer – and definitely said “Hey Joe” many times over four days just to see both of their heads turn at once.

There was a third Joe as well…Joe Momma. She loved my inflatable twin size mattress inside the glampground.

What is Glamping?

The word glamping is a combination of the words glamour and camping. Glamping is essentially camping without any of the struggle.

Read a book? Idiotic. Why when the WiFi in the tent is blazin’ fast? The closest you get to building a fire is opening your Amazon Fire tablet.

Hunt for food? Why, when you can just order delivery service on your phone? Glamping is for people who want to get away, that don’t really want to get away, but do want to relax.

For example, on my first morning at the M&M’s Glampground, my heterosexual bunk mate/life mate Joe Kinsley introduced me to Yacht Rock via Pandora.

This would have been impossible via traditional camping.

Yacht Rock is a mix of songs from the 70s and 80s that you didn’t realize you wanted to hear until you hear them – Hall & Oates, Fleetwood Mac, America – and then you wonder what the FUCK have you been listening to?

You feel so great and relaxed and de-stressed, that you take a nap after only being awake for two hours.

Here’s me and Kinsley taking in some Yacht Rock, 5 minutes before I laid down again:

The M&Ms Glampground Had All The Chocolate And Yacht Rock I Could Stomach
The M&Ms Glampground Had All The Chocolate And Yacht Rock I Could Stomach

Allow me to take you on a quick tour of our M&M’s glamping tent:

Glamping Tents From M&Ms

Glamping tents come in all sizes and shapes, just like M&Ms and NASCAR fans at Kentucky Speedway. Check out our (me and the Joes) glamping tents.

‘Ol tent number 28 got alotta action this weekend! And by “action” definitely mean two 40-year-old dudes farting and snoring – sometimes both at the same time.

Kentucky Speedway – The Wildlife

The partying/tailgating/chilling at Kentucky Speedway is best summed up by Yacht Rock band America and the song Ventura Highway (which actually mentions a dude named Joe):

“Where the days are longer
The nights are stronger
Than moonshine
You’re gonna go I know”

Thanks to the Turn 2 Tavern, conveniently located in Turn 2, I drank some apple pie moonshine on multiple occasions and it was so good.

Just like with every NASCAR race I have ever been to, the people you meet at the track take the experience of fun to the next level.

Check out this dude with the neck brace:

Kentucky SPeedway Has Its Characters.Neck Brace Was A Real Character

This dude was hammered and told me he recently broke his neck while racing and crashing into a wall. He had a face like a fist.

No joke an hour after Joe (two heads turn) caught this shot, he was surrounded by 10 sheriffs deputies.

He took a HUGE pull off his vape, emitted the biggest vape cloud I have ever seen, and dipped out between two motor homes, just like an octopus shooting ink and escaping a dangerous jam.

The next day he was back at Turn 2, getting turnt, without the neck brace, wearing a wife beater. and nobody cared or gave him a hard time. It was a new day.

Plenty of characters at Turn 2. It was a big surprise to run into Samurai Mike Singletary:

Check out these NASCAR lot lizards:

[Best_Wordpress_Gallery id=”10″ gal_title=”Kentucky Speedway”]

The ladies at Turn 2 tolerated us all weekend.

But, we made up for our lack of personality with hundos.

The Turn 2 Tavern was located on the infield of the track, while Fireball Alley was located next to the grandstands on turn one.

For $30, college kids get a camping/glamping spot outside the track and a ticket to the race.

Also, beer is cheaper than water in Fireball Alley. $2 for a strawberry Natty? I’m in. Here’s Joe (two heads turn) Kinsley counting his calories:

Here’s the progression of Joe ordering some beers from Fireball Alley with his new friend Bradley, note the gaped mouth in the final image.

[Best_Wordpress_Gallery id=”8″ gal_title=”Kinsley in KY”]

There was so much glamping going on at the M&Ms Glampground, I almost forgot about the parade of NASCAR personalities that shared time with us at Kentucky Speedway. Like NASCAR/NFL champion Joe Gibbs who I spoke to about the forgotten Redskins dynasty.

My personal highlight was when I asked NASCAR champion Kyle Busch, in front of the entire glampground and the emcee Ryan Eichler, the greatest question of my journalistic career:

What is your favorite vegetable?

Busch told me he was stumped. It was the one time during his sub-10 minute appearance that he was quiet; he was really thinking about his favorite vegetable.

Actual transcript:

Kyle Busch: Is a tomato a vegetable?

Paul Eide: No, it is a fruit. I think because of the seeds.

Kyle Busch: I’m stumped, this is a great question.

Paul Eide: Thank you Kyle. This is the culmination of 20 years of interview experience.

Kyle Busch: Cucumber – is a cucumber a vegetable?

Paul Eide: Yes it is.

Kyle Busch: But it has seeds. So if a tomato has seeds and that makes it a fruit, how is a cucumber a fruit?

Paul Eide: I don’t know Kyle. I was pretty sure you were going to say avocado.

I’ve never been encumbered by celebrity to ask the hard-hitting journalistic questions.

And the glampground was no exception.

It was funny because later that night a fellow glamper asked me, “Why did you waste time and ask him that stupid vegetable question?” To which I replied, “Make like a tree and leaf.”

BTW Joe (two heads turn) Miragliotta took almost every picture in this article, which is why there are none of him in it.

So, here’s one of him dozing off to Yacht Rock:

No one can resist the urge to nap after reaching Yacht Rock critical mass

Glamping at Kentucky Speedway was the perfect mix of NASCAR, Yacht Rock, moonshine, and cool people.

In the modified words of Hall and Oats, I can go for that.

Adam Carolla Used To Be RIPPED - And He Barely Remembers It
Adam Carolla Used To Be RIPPED – And He Barely Remembers It

If Adam Carolla hadn’t forced his way into a local radio station to meet Jimmy Kimmel and volunteer to be his boxing coach, they never would have met, and he would’ve never gotten into the entertainment industry.

The Man Show would’ve never happened. Crank Yankers just a fleeting thought. Loveline simply a wet dream.

In this interview, AC talks about how he used to be completely RIPPED when he was a boxer. We also talked about whatever happened to the fat kid AKA Man Show Boy that used to sell beer on corners and crack wise to adults on The Man Show, what it feels like to be mistaken for Gilbert Gottfried and/or Norm Macdonald, and his partnership with Castrol Edge.

Watch/listen to the interview here, or read the Q and A below:

Q and A with Adam Carolla

Question: My whole goal here today Adam is to get inside you

Answer: Well, welcome aboard. If you’re gonna get inside me, I need to stretch out.

Q: Sorry if I warmed it up a little too fast, I figured after all of your years on Love Line there was nothing I could say to make you uncomfortable.

A: I’m an atheist whose been beat up my entire life. There is nothing anyone could say or do that would make me uncomfortable. But Paul, you are free to try.

Q: Have you been hurt? Who hurt you?

A: Who hurt me emotionally? I’d say my parents. Physically? Guys named Ray and Chris.

Q: How did you and Castrol Edge merge?

A: I started a podcast many years ago and Castrol came aboard as a sponsor. Then, they were looking for somebody who embodied their spirit and they said, “Hey Carolla – you like cars, you race cars…how about we get together and make a really cool video and out it on the Castrol YouTube page?” And so we did. And now, it is done.

Q: Is it true you trained Jimmy Kimmel how to box?

A: Yes, I was Jimmy’s boxing coach. I trained him how to box for a morning radio stunt. He wasn’t trying to be a professional boxer or anything. And at a certain point, we became friends. And then, we started collaborating. Because I was poor, and he was poor, and he wanted money so he could buy pizza ovens and big houses in the Hollywood Hills, and I wanted money so I could buy race cars. And look at us, 25 years later almost, we’re living the dream.

Q: Dude, you were ripped.

A: Yeah…what? What are you looking at?

Q: I was looking at the Castrol Edge video provided by Castrol Edge. There’s a still of you jumping rope and you’re just ripped.

A: Yeah, I used to be in good shape. There were two things. One, I used to teach boxing. And two, I used to be poor. So all I did was skip rope all day and I couldn’t eat. But now, I st around all day and talk to schmucks — not you — journalists, I mean. And now I just sit around and they bring me food. And I sit on my butt and talk all day. Obviously, I’ve put on a couple pounds.

Q: It sounds like you’re telling me that if you don’t eat at all and work out intensely, with a high level of “edge” if you will, you will lose weight.

A: Yes! I’m thinking of writing a very controversial diet book called “Stop Eating So Much And Start Skipping Rope And You Shall Lose Weight.” I call it the North Hollywood diet. You’re just destitute and poor, and you just skip rope all day. And the pounds just melt off.

Q: The email I received prior to this interview noted the importance of every day exhilaration. It kind of sounds like that is what you are talking about.

A: Yes. Put yourself in a situation that is exhilarating. I did a professional trans am race about a year ago at Willow Springs, one of the fastest tracks in the US. I was driving a C7 Corvette with 850 HP, that I’d never driven before. I got to the track to race and I thought, “My God, what have I done? This is the worst idea I’ve ever had.” I ended up getting third place which got me up on the podium. And when I got out of the car, I never felt better in my entire life – I couldn’t believe I was able to do that. I think about those experiences and you have to put yourself into that position. And that’s what Castrol Edge is about. I put myself into those positions.

I did Dancing With The Stars specifically because I couldn’t dance. At first when they asked, I said “No. I can’t dance.” Then I thought wait a minute, I’m scared to death. And then I said yes, because it scared me to death.

Q: What did you find on the other side, after the fear, past the exhilaration?

A: You get to take that experience with you. So, I’d done the professional Trans Am race ad I was scared to death. I completed that. I did Dancing With The Stars, I was scared of that. I completed that. Well actually I got booted on the fourth episode. But I took those experiences and I put them in my pocket. And then when it came time to talk to Paul from the I-80 Sports Blog, everyone else was like, “Oh my God!” But I was like, “Relax — I got this.”

Q: All those experiences, Adam, all that exhilaration, lead to this.

A: To this one moment.

Q: Yes, to this one moment in time that we are now sharing.

A: I’m silently sharing it with you, as you speak.

Q: Can I ask you a Man Show question?

A: Yes.

Q: What happened to that fat kid that used to sell beer on the corner and make witty remarks at people?

A: That was MSB – “Man Show Boy.” Man Show Boy is probably in his 30s and in rehab now. I don’t know. His name was Aaron. He was a sweet kid. He would come to play softball with us every year when we wrapped the show. And he would bring his dad with him. And he was a sweet guy. I have not kept up with him. I do not know. And he must be…he’s probably 33 now or something.

Q: Was he fed all those lines? Or was he coming up with that himself?

A: No, we would feed him the lines. He’d put in an IFB ear piece and we’d sit in a van nearby and feed him the lines. It cracked me up. Another thing I remember about him is that he couldn’t ride a bicycle. There was a bit that Bobcat Goldthwait directed and at the end he was supposed to be riding a bicycle. But instead, he was just pushing the bicycle. I couldn’t wrap my mind around that. But who needs bicycles? They don’t take Castrol Edge. They just take leg power.

Q: I’ve got an Edge-y question for you Adam. Back to the Love Lines era, was there ever a story or situation that made you physically aroused? Or, did the experience of that show completely relegate you to asexual status?

A: I was probably relegated to asexual status somewhere around the ninth grade. So it wasn’t Love Line that pushed me in that direction. But, it cemented my status as asexual.

Q: At this point in your career, how often do you get mistaken for Norm Macdonald?

A: I do get mistaken for Norm Macdonald on occasion which is better than getting mistaken for Gilbert Gottfried.

Q: And it’s probably better than being Norm Macdonald as well, right?

A: It’s better than being Norm Macdonald because he doesn’t have all of my race cars. And he’s not sitting here talking about Castrol Edge.

Q: I forgot about Gilbert Gottfried. Has that actually happened to you?

A: Yes, and I don’t know why. He’s four feet nothing and doesn’t even own a car. He doesn’t drive – he literally does not have a driver’s license.

Go to Castrol USA YouTube Channel and you can watch me drive. “Rain Starts Play” is what the video is called.

Blake Anderson lives his life like his hair on the the show Workaholics.

I spoke to Blake with my heterosexual life partner and co-host Joe Kinsey about the limited edition Cinco Equis cans from Dos Equis and promoted by your favorite long-haired Workaholic. Click the play button and enjoy the next 8 minutes and 53 seconds.

Here are a few highlights:

How many Dos Equis will it take for you to call your equi-girlfriend?

To call up the “equi” girl? Not too many. I’m a Pisces so I’m a romantic. So the first place my mind goes is to lost love. But hey after a few equis, maybe just don’t make that phone call.

What’s your gameplan for Cinco De Mayo?

Uhhh, definitely going to be responsibly POUNDING some Dos Equis – that’s gonna happen. Go to a concert with some homies, eat some tacos, do some dancin’, just have a good old time. It’s one of my favorite fiestas.

Blake, I want to hear about a strange female fan experience.

The weirdest one actually happened to Adam where he was given some cupcakes. And when he bit into it, some of her “hairs” were in the cupcakes. After I heard that, I don;t really accept any baked goods.

So basically this girl offered Adam a hair pie?

Yeah, totally. Like – literally. He should have known, the writing was on the wall.

Don’t leave yet – let’s hang out some more:

JJ Watt is the NFL’s best defensive player, capable of superhuman displays each Sunday during the NFL season.

But when it was time to meet Jennifer Aniston he performed just like a regular guy.

Fulfilling a lifelong goal of meeting the famous actress for the first time prior to the Gatorade Athlete of the Year Awards in Los Angeles, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year and walking quote machine admitted that during the meeting he was suddenly, and unexpectedly, at a loss for words.

“If I run into her again, hopefully I’ll have more topics of conversation that actually stay in my brain,”€ Watt quipped. His only regret besides blanking out like a mere mortal? “Not proposing to her. I left the room without proposing. It was a complete disaster.”

Even though Watt got sacked with Aniston, everyone else in the room hung on his every word and it’s easy to see why; he enjoys himself, and his experiences, as much as anyone else.

Thanks to a mix of genuine humility and contagious happiness, Watt was the coolest guy in the room and everyone wanted a piece, something that he wields consciously.

“When you have the power to put a smile on someone’s face just by shaking their hand, or just by signing an autograph, it’s one of the most incredible feelings in the world,”€ said Watt.

“I don’t know why just walking into a room can make somebody light up, but it’s so cool and who am I to waste that? How many people get to change someone’s life with a hug or a smile? It’s crazy and I’m so fortunate to get to do it.”

The Gatorade Athlete of the Year Award is given to the best male and female high school athletes in the country.

Started in 1985, the list of past recipients reads like a who’s who list of athletic stars across multiple sports. Emmitt Smith, Peyton Manning, Derek Jeter, LeBron James, Dwight Howard, Allyson Felix, Candace Parker and Kevin Love have all won the award.

From the pool of 12 recipients across multiple sports, quarterback Kyler Reed of Allen, Texas won the Male Athlete of the Year award, while sprinter Candace Hill of Conyers, Georgia won the Female Athlete of the Year Award.

Hill is the fastest Junior (under 20) in the world and has won 89 consecutive races.

Allen, the Texas A&M commit never lost a game as a high school starter (43-0) and won three consecutive state championships, exhibited a level of maturity beyond his 17 years.

“I don’t like to talk about myself, I’m just a chill dude, a young guy just taking it all in,” said Reed, jostling the Gatorade AOY trophy in his hands as he spoke. “Very, very surreal moment, just to win this award. It’s a huge honor. Guys I look up to have won this award, guys I look up to haven’t won this award. So to accept it is very humbling. Hopefully I can represent Gatorade well in the coming years.”

On hand to introduce the nominees, and ultimately the award winners, were Gatorade athletes J.J. Watt, Draymond Green, DeMarco Murray, Candace Parker, Abby Wambach, Karl-Anthony Towns and Landon Donovan.

While the event marked the culmination of success at the high school level, it also served as a coronation, an introduction to the new challenges and changes of the next level.

Greek philosopher Heraclitus famously said “Change is the only constant in life.” And though change for the high school athletes on hand may have been the most glaring, and celebrated, examples, each of the Gatorade professional athletes featured during the awards had recently enjoyed major success, and major shifts, in their professional lives.

“Jeez Louise, what day is this?”€ Said Abby Wambach when I asked her what her life has been like since winning the women’s World Cup. “The last nine days have been some of the most surreal experiences I’ve ever had. Not only because people and celebrities are talking about us; Taylor Swift wants us at her concert, or I get to be at this Gatorade Player of the Year event€, but because it is the completion of a lifelong goal (winning the World Cup) is what it’s really all about.”

“There are a lot of professional athletes here and they’ll say you know it was amazing inking that $100 million dollar or $200 million dollar contract, whatever it is like J.J. Watt, but there really is nothing like winning. And you can’t put a price tag on that. I’ve just had the most wild couple of days, it’s just been awesome.”

WNBA star Candace Parker knows how it feels to win the award. The 2004 Gatorade Female Athlete of the Year also felt weird about the realization that it had been 11 years since she won.

“It felt extremely weird to see my name so far to the right of the most recent winners’ banners,”€ said Parker, as the banners honoring past winners were hung left to right, with most recent winners first.

After seven seasons in the WNBA and winning every individual award possible, she has one final goal. “I want to win a championship; that’s the last thing I have to check off on the resume.”

Speaking of championships, Draymond Green is still giddy from collecting his as a member of the NBA champion Golden State Warriors. “Every time I think I got it, I catch myself sitting there like, Wow, we won the championship. It’s still kind of surreal. It’s settled in a little more now but it’s amazing, the feeling, the accomplishment in itself to be able to win for my brothers, for the city of Oakland, for the Bay area, it’s been 40 long years without it and it’s an amazing feeling. I can’t say there is anything else that I’ve been a part of, that I’ve done, that’s happened to me that can really compare to the feeling that I got from that.”

The After Party

After a day of hanging out with some of the biggest names in sports, we longed for the contrast of a dimly lit, barely populated dive bar. And we found one, called the R Bar on 8th street in beautiful downtown Los Angeles, that required a password (Clever Girl) upon entry.

Though karaoke is something I consciously avoid, my friend and cameraman, Matt,
absolutely loves it and he signed us up to sing a duet. While nervously awaiting our turn to rock the mic, we noticed that Hollywood icon Kiefer Sutherland was one of roughly nine people in the bar and we inadvertently ended up opening for him.

In a scenario like that, you have to rock a classic and hope for the best; worst case scenario the song itself carries your lack of vocal talent.

With a stirring rendition of the Dr. Dre classic “Nuthin’ But A G Thang”€ featuring Snoop Dogg, we gave Jack Bauer all he could handle because, of course, there is nothing cooler than two white guys from Nebraska, completely over-dressed for a dive bar, physically representing the seminal role that Death Row Records played in our youth.

But the Lost Boys star was undeterred. He casually stepped to the mic and blasted out a free-form rendition of the classic Sister Golden Hair by America.

In our never-ending quest for objectivity, we asked two women we met earlier at the bar whose performance was better and the answer was unanimous – Kiefer’s.

His shirt was also better; a clean, pressed, white button-down paired with casual slacks; he truly looked great. Kiefer was an awesome dude.

Once word spread that he was at the bar, the crowd swelled from a nine people to a total of about 30 and almost every person introduced themselves. He shook hands with every individual that came up to him and posed for pictures, enjoying it as much as anyone.

<a rel=When Matt approached Kiefer and delivered a shot of Patron Silver (the bar didn’t carry Jose Quervo Gold, of which Sutherland is famously the pitchman) he not only accepted the shot and posed for a picture, but he complimented his karaoke performance as Snoop to my Dre.

It was a great moment and perfect end to the day, and, the Gatorade Athlete of the Year experience.

What do J.J. Watt and Kiefer Sutherland have in common? They appreciate and enjoy their success as much as anyone and are happy to share it.

Terry Crews Told Me About The Time He Got Knocked Out In An NFL Game And The Myths Of Manhood

Terry Crews knows a thing or two about being a MAN. The former professional football player turned actor turned Old Spice pitchman teamed up with the brand to launch the “Contempor-MANLY” campaign to celebrate 80 years of Old Spice.

Just as Jeffery Lebowski wondered allowed “What makes a man?” to The Dude in The Big Lebowski, I asked Terry several questions about successfully sailing the seas of manhood.

You played professional football for 6 years. Was there a time when you were completely emasculated and who did it?

Yes. It was when I was playing for the San Diego Chargers when I knocked myself out on a kickoff return on Monday Night Football. What could be more emasculating than that? I was running down the field on special teams and knocked myself out on national TV. It was like, suddenly I was on the ground and I didn’t know what happened. I was able to make it to the sidelines with the help of a few teammates. I really didn’t notice the affect of the hit until I was standing there. We were playing the Indianapolis Colts and I kept looking at their helmets thinking, ‘What does the U stand for, Utica?’ I had no idea what was going on, was almost completely senseless.

What is the number one lesson in masculinity that guys overlook most frequently?

Probably that it’s OK to be sensitive. And have multiple interests. I mean there’s this sort of alpha male archetype of a guy like James Bond. The thing about James Bond, or Magnum P.I. is that all those guys ended up alone. John Wayne or any of those guys really, all end up alone in their garage working on stuff. I don’t want to be alone. I want to spend time with my wife and kids. The other thing there is for guys that’s important is finding what makes them truly happy and it’s actually very simple. If there was something that you loved doing as a kid, chances are you probably will still love it now. So why stop doing it? You have to have fun and love what you do and who you do it with. I love video games. My son and I just built a computer together to play video games on.  So now something that I love is what he also has interest in and we can do it together.

I loved art as a kid all the way up until college. I even received an art scholarship in college. And it was difficult for a lot of people to wrap their minds around that. I also love playing the flute. And painting, still to this very day. And in that time period in the 80s, masculinity was thought of as this thing where you had to be hard and tough all the time, particularly for me as a football player, a guy who looked rough and looked the part. So it’s been really cool to see how society has evolved since then, to where it is now. There is a lot more tolerance and less focus on what a man ‘should’ be versus what he is. The tough guys who aren’t in touch with the multiple facets of their personality end up a lone and I don’t think a lot of guys want to be that. I know I don’t!

Give me an Ice Cube Westside Connection body guard story; do you know all the lyrics to Bow Down?

Well actually, I was not technically his bodyguard. I was working as a security guard in the lot where he was filming Next Friday. So I would see him every single day and we got to know each other. I was literally a guy in a shirt that said ‘Security’ on it carrying a flashlight. And from there I got cast in the follow-up to that movie Friday After Next. The stories about how we met aren’t entirely accurate, but it’s been great to see how it all evolved. It really helped me start my career as an actor and was part of what got me to where I am right now. I don’t know all the lyrics to Bow Down. But, ‘when you come to my town you got to BOW.’

Personal question Terry – when did you start to go bald and begin losing your hair?

Actually, I’m not bald. I literally shave my head every single morning, every day. My wife doesn’t like when I have hair, she thinks it looks strange. So I literally shave my head every single day. True story.

Talk about the “Contempor-MANLY” campaign you are working on with Old Spice.

Believe it or not, this is Old Spice’s 80th birthday! And to me as a kid some of my earliest memories are my dad using the old ceramic bottle with the boat on it. Nothing can take you back in time like the sense of smell. Old Spice has launched a new collection, the 80th Anniversary Capsule Collection. Old Spice is the number one selling deodorant/anti-perspirant and body wash brand with guys of all ages. And with our “contempor-MANLY” live stream and video available after the stream is over, viewers can tell me what type of contempor-MANLY tasks they’d like me to complete. I’m taking suggestions from viewers and then the viewers vote, and I perform that task. For example, should I fold my laundry or ponder my future? Should I hammer a nail or get a full body work out in?

Top 10 Douchebags of 2016? What kind of list would this be without America’s Sweetheart Ryan Lochte?

Top 10 Douchebags Of 2016 – The List You Waited A Year For

It’s that time again when the year is coming to a close. We are all wrapped up in our gift giving, mounds of junk food, endless family gatherings, and holiday parties. Soon we will all be counting down from 10 to say “Happy New Year” with our friends, and family. We here at Sports Douchebags have an annual countdown tradition also.

This list of the Top 10 Douchebags of 2016 takes a look back on the year to celebrate all the Douchiness we’ve witnessed in the sports world. It’s easy to forget all the unwitting Douchiness we’ve all absorbed.

To clarify, this is a list for sports world related douchebags. I’m sure we all would put Hillary, Trump, Bernie, the DNC, the RNC, Russia, Wikileaks, whatever on your own personal list for 2016. This is sports world only, where we can bury our heads and forget about all that mess.

I know you’re all anxious to see this year’s winners, but first let’s pause to appreciate the past #1s who have fallen off the list in 2016.

Floyd Mayweather – 2015 – Has tried to stay in the spotlight as much as possible. His social media feud with Conor McGregor is more cute than douchy. Since he is retired he technically isn’t in the sports world any longer.

Johnathan Manziel – 2014 – Johnny Football topped our Top 10 Douchebags of 2014. Wish I could say he isn’t on the list because he is on the straight and narrow, but he is still a train wreck. Just technically not in sports anymore.

Justin Bieber – 2014 & 2015 top 5 – On the list by association, and for his supreme level of douchiness. We might finally be rid of him.

The moment you’ve all clicked on this link for.

#10 Douchebag of 2016: Roger Goodell

Good ole’ Rog. 3 years I’ve made this list, 3 yrs he has had a spot in the top 10. This year no big moments stand out. I think he just has a spot by default now.

#9 Douchebag of 2016: Stan Kroenke

Every year some super rich, white guy, team owner makes the top 10. Kronke gets the honor in 2016. We all saw the writing on the wall. We know it was a smart business move. It’s just always a Douche Move, and he didn’t handle it the best either.

#8 Douchebag of 2016: Sports Talk Show Hosts

I really thought about separating out this group and giving them all their own top 10. From Bayliss, to Simmons. Stephen A Smith, to Jamelle Hill. Berman, to Rome, and Whitlock and his stupid hats. I’m sick of all of their opinions, and social activation BS. Report sports and leave the rest alone. Side note, networks please stop jamming sexy women masquerading as reporters down our throats.

#7 Douchebag of 2016: Hope Solo

The face of women’s soccer, and the USWNT goalie in the 2016 Olympics. Hope showed her poor sportsmanship and true selfish attitude in full force. You just can’t be disrespectful when the world is watching. Way to go on becoming the first female to make the list. Sadly odds are she will be a 1 and done as she was replaced off the team, and won’t be in the media much in 2017. (Related Video – Hope Solo 100th Shutout)

#6 Douchebag of 2016: Ryan Lochte

Another Olympic champion for team USA, another embarrassment. I could include him on the list just for his haircut alone. Fortunately for us at SDB he gave us plenty of ammo the night he was “ahem” robbed at gunpoint in a gas station bathroom. Great story Ryan!

#5 Douchebag of 2016: Kevin Durant

Maybe it’s just me? I just couldn’t imagine myself doing what he did. I’d rather work, and build a team ground up. He jumped ship, that alone isn’t bad players do it all the time. He jumped to the team that needed him least, in search of the path of least resistance to the finals. Punk move, or should I say Douche Move. (Related – 2016 Western Conference Preview)

#4 Douchebag of 2016: Odell Beckham Jr.

Can this guy just STFU already? Like Lochte his hair is enough to make this list. Combine that with his “Me 1st attitude”, his “look at me” TD celebrations, and his ridiculous sideline antics with kicking nets. Seriously WTF is wrong with this guy? He should just play the game and STFU. I imagine Eli hates himself for every TD throw to him. Like “yes TD, oh no, ODB is celebrating” sigh.

#3 Douchebag of 2016: Conor McGregor

Conor filled the void that was left when Mayweather retired. His endless self promotion, and selfish squabbles with UFC about media gigs, and his BS social media call outs to Floyd are all lame. We see through you Conor, it’s all a soap opera. You wouldn’t win a boxing match against Floyd. It’s all a show, that makes you a D-Bag. (Related – The UFC Is Dead – Where The Fuck Is Don Frye?)

#2 Douchebag of 2016: Colin Kaepernick

America’s enemy #1 in the sports world, comes in at #2 on our countdown. What a fall from GQ QB. This ass bag went from the bench and irrelevant to national news, and starting QB all in 2016. Kaep decided to take a knee during the anthem for a political statement. Good for him, we here at SDB support freedom of speech. I mean have you seen the things we write, and post on twitter? However this guy is a complete idiot how he went about it, and botched every opportunity after.

Drumroll please, your Numero uno, #1, Top dog, Big Swinging D*** winner of Douchebag of the year award for 2016 is…

Douchebag Of The Year 2016: Cubs Fans

You have been the “loveable losers” for a century. Playing the “feel sorry for us”, “Curse BS” card for all those years was always douchey, but we all tolerated it because it was funny. Bartman was hilarious! We all know the Cubs fan base has some serious hardcore fans. I’m not talking about you all.

I’m referring to all the fair-weather, bandwagon, just “like there cute logo” fans. Not to mention all the freakin celebrities that came out of the woodwork to cash in on 15 min of social media publicity.

Speaking of social media, more people posted on FB about how “ Their Cubs” and how “WE” have waited so long for this. STFU and go back to bitching about politics and religion and leave the sports to the real Douchebags who watch them.

2016 has been a hell of a year. Thanks to all our readers here at Sports Douchebags for your support. We look forward to another douchey year in 2017. We all wish you all a Merry Christmas, Kwanza, Hanukkah, Holidays, or whatever you celebrate, and a Happy New Year!
